Summer Programs Overview

Learn more about what we offer, who is eligible and what is required. The New Jersey Performing Arts Center is offering Summer Programs in Acting, All-Female Jazz, Dance, Hip-Hop, Musical Theater, The Second City Comedy and Improv. The classes are being held from end of June to mid August and extended day options are available for most programs. Discover, create and grow in the arts at NJPAC this Summer!

 

Young Artist Summer Intensive (YASI)

Young Artist Summer Intensive (YASI)

Advanced Division:

A multi-week performing arts intensive. Students major in one performing arts discipline while taking additional classes in the other disciplines to round out their skill set in music, dance and theater. A final showcase takes place at NJPAC.
Audition Required.

Apprentice Plus Division:

Students refine their skills and work towards becoming a triple threat in this four-week intensive in music, dance and theater. Students engage their creativity through improvised scenes and dance sequences. A final showcase will take place at NJPAC.

The Second City at NJPAC

NJPAC is excited to collaborate with The Second City this summer to bring programs in Improv and Comedy to teens and adults alike!  Based in Chicago since 1959, The Second City is a world renowned comedy enterprise, which helped launch the careers of stars like Tina Fey, Steve Carell and Mike Myers.

Teen Improv & Sketch Comedy Workshop:

Classes explore the fundamentals of improvisation as taught and performed by The Second City. Students develop skills in creative thinking, self-confidence, listening, brainstorming, team building, empathy and communication. A final showcase will take place at NJPAC.

Adult Improvisation & Comedy Writing Immersion:

Students experience the vitality of creating sketches and improvisation. Participants will learn new skills and make new friends! A final showcase will take place at NJPAC.

From the Inside Out:

This groundbreaking program offers a class in improvisation for teens diagnosed with Aspergers’ Syndrome and/or Autism. Students explore relationships and social cues in classes that focus on ensemble and team building. The one-week program provides a safe and fun environment where students can explore and challenge themselves.
