Tamela Mann and Mr. Brown: "Take Me to the King"
Comedian David Mann (of "Meet the Browns") is the opening performer for his wife, acclaimed gospel singer Tamela Mann, in a joyful evening of inspirational song.
Known for their stage and screen appearances as members of Tyler Perry’s ensemble, Tamela and David Mann -- both winners of NAACP Image Awards -- co-starred in the hit TBS series Meet the Browns. Tamela’s latest album, Best Days, is a showcase for her powerful voice and gift for wringing every ounce of emotion from a great lyric. This Dove Award-winning vocalist continues to move audiences with her impressive talents and deep faith.
As a former member of The Family, Tamela can be heard on five albums by her friend, gospel singer Kirk Franklin. Of her own four albums, The Master Plan won the 2011 Dove Award for Traditional Gospel Album of the Year. The Manns, who are active supporters of the American Diabetes Association, recently renewed their wedding vows after 25 years of marriage. During the reception, Franklin accompanied himself and Tamela on the piano in their first public performance of the hit single “Take Me to the King” since its original recording.
