Arts Education
An Introduction

Arts Education has been a central part of NJPAC’s mission since its inception. Even before the Center opened its doors in October of 1997, the Arts Education Department had been reaching thousands of young people through its in-school and community-based residency programs and performances. Today, NJPAC’s Arts Education program is the fourth largest of the nation’s arts centers.

Arts Training

NJPAC's Arts Training programs help students at every level learn the artistic and technical skills they need to study acting, dance, instrumental music, vocal music and musical theater. Teachers with professional performing arts experience create a disciplined, yet nurturing environment in which students feel free to express their artistic voices.  Our programs aspire to engage the artist in every child and help students find the self-esteem, poise and confidence that they need to succeed in every facet of life.

In-School Residencies

NJPAC brings the joy of dance, music and theater directly into your classroom with In-School Programs. Our Teaching Artists create stimulating performing arts experiences that engage students' imaginations and encourage their creative self-expression. Residencies help students learn to work together and believe in themselves.

SchoolTime Performances

NJPAC's Verizon Passport to Culture Series introduces students to the arts. Programs feature world-class artists from a wide variety of traditions. Performances of music, dance, storytelling, theater, puppetry, and more ignite the imagination and lay the groundwork to cultivate lifelong enthusiasts for the arts. Productions are linked to curriculum areas such as world languages, social studies and language arts and are appropriate for a broad range of ages.
