NJPAC announces opening lineup of more than 150 events for 2018-19 season

NJPAC, the country’s most diverse arts presenter, is opening its 2018-19 season with an adventurous lineup of more than 150 attractions – just for starters! – featuring Bollywood to ballet and hip-hop to K-pop.

“We’re always keen to find the next great thing for audiences,” says President and CEO John Schreiber, “and even more excited by the shows in the pipeline. Every week, concerts or events are being added.”

Dance programming has been expanded to represent modern, post-modern, ballet, African and hip-hop stylings, including such companies as MOMIX, Rennie Harris Puremovement, Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company, and Forces of Nature Dance Theatre – the last collaborating with Sweet Honey in the Rock in an NJPAC-commissioned world premiere.

This December again brings two family-favorite Nutcrackers in a single weekend: NJPAC’s popular holiday mash-up The Hip Hop Nutcracker and the State Ballet Theatre of Russia’s classical The Nutcracker.

The many facets of jazz are reflected in the pairing of Gregory Porter and Dianne Reeves in concert, multi-instrumentalist Marcus Miller with saxophonist David Sanborn, and an A-team of music makers in Congas y Canto: An Evening of Latin Jazz. Two major festivals are scheduled: The seventh annual TD James Moody Jazz Festival and the biennial Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival.

Neil deGrasse Tyson takes audiences on a tour of the cosmos, while appearances by Michael Feinstein and Mandy Gonzalez explore the music of Broadway and beyond. The Mariinsky Orchestra arrives from St. Petersburg and the Philadelphia Orchestra from just across the Delaware River.
