An Evening with Stephen Colbert & Meryl Streep
Stephen Colbert, the host of CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, welcomes 3-time Academy Award® winner and New Jersey’s own Meryl Streep for what’s sure to be an entertaining, provocative and comedic event.
Late-night king Stephen Colbert is the Emmy and Peabody Award®-winning host and executive producer of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, a role he assumed following his stint as the longest-tenured correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and a successful nine-year run as the star of his own Comedy Central hit, The Colbert Report. Colbert is also an acclaimed author: His I Am America (And So Can You!) spent 13 weeks at No. 1 on the New York Times best-seller list, and the recorded version of his follow-up, America Again: Re-Becoming the Greatness We Never Weren’t, won a GRAMMY Award® for Best Spoken Word Album. In addition to his Late Show duties, Colbert is the executive producer of Showtime’s Our Cartoon President, a half-hour animated series centered on the Trump White House.
For almost 40 years, Meryl Streep has portrayed an astonishing array of characters in a career that has cut a unique path through theater, film and television. Streep has won three Academy Awards® and in 2018, in a record that is unsurpassed, she earned a 21st nomination for her role in The Post. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award® from the American Film Institute, a 2008 honor from the Film Society of Lincoln Center, and the 2010 National Medal of Arts from President Obama. Streep received a Kennedy Center Honor in 2011, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2014.
All proceeds from this special evening will benefit Montclair Film, New Jersey’s leading film non-profit, which hosts the annual Montclair Film Festival (May 3-12, 2019), as well as year-round film education, cinema and community programs that reach over 43,000 patrons each year.
