Bethany Jazz Vespers: Reggie Workman
The Bethany Jazz Vespers series presents this FREE concert featuring legendary bassist and composer Reggie Workman, one of the most technically astute players in modern jazz, known for a versatile style that moves freely between hard bop and avant-garde settings.
Known for his timeless work with both the John Coltrane Quartet and Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Workman is also recognized for his collaboration with saxophonist Oliver Lake and drummer Andrew Cyrille on TRIO 3. In recognition of Workman's international performances and recordings spanning over four decades, he was named a “Living Legend” by the African-American Historical and Cultural Museum in his hometown of Philadelphia, and is also the recipient of the prestigious Eubie Blake Award.
This free event is presented by Bethany Jazz Vespers and NJPAC.
