Too Marvelous for Words: Christine Ebersole and Robert Kimball Celebrate Johnny Mercer
Two-time Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole (War Paint and Grey Gardens) arrives with musical theater historian Robert Kimball and a cabaret performance devoted to the work of Johnny Mercer.
For over 30 years now, Christine Ebersole has captivated audiences on the Broadway stage, on television, on the big screen, and on a series of acclaimed recordings including her most recent, Strings Attached. Her performances in 42nd Street and Grey Gardens have become the stuff of musical theater legend, and last season she earned raves again for her performance opposite Patti LuPone in War Paint.
For Ebersole’s return to NJPAC’s intimate Chase Room, she will lend her crystal-clear soprano to the immortal songs of Johnny Mercer, the man behind hits like “Accentuate the Positive,” “Moon River,” “Autumn Leaves,” “Tangerine,” “Jeepers Creepers,” “That Old Black Magic,” and “Too Marvelous for Words.” Ebersole will be joined by noted musical theater historian Robert Kimball, who will provide expert commentary and anecdotes about Mercer and his work.
NICO Kitchen + Bar will be open for this performance.
