Congas y Canto: An Evening of Latin Jazz
TD James Moody Jazz Festival
An evening of Latin jazz and more with superstar drummer Sheila E. (The Glamorous Life), GRAMMY-winning pianist-composer Eddie Palmieri, and legendary salsa vocalist Tito Rojas, all backed by NJPAC favorite Christian McBride and his Big Band.
During her 30 years in the music industry, Sheila E. has carved a name for herself as one of the world’s most iconic percussionists, having collaborated with the likes of George Duke, Marvin Gaye, Gloria Estefan and Prince. Multiple GRAMMY winner Eddie Palmieri, one of the finest Latin jazz pianists of his generation, is known for fusing the rhythms of his Puerto Rican heritage with the melody and complexity of American jazz. Salsa singer Tito Rojas, aka “El Gallo Salsero,” will replace the previously announced Tito Nieves. He sang with Conjunto Borincuba – the band conducted by Justo Betancourt – and the Fania All-Stars; his many hits include “Lo Que Te Queda,” “Siempre Sere” and “Señora de Madrugada.”
When these artists share a night of sizzling, high-energy music in Prudential Hall, all backed by multi-GRAMMY-winning bassist Christian McBride and his Big Band, just try to sit still!
And the beat goes on....in the lobby!
Plan to stay after the performance and dance like never before to the sounds spun by DJ Checo of New Line Entertainment in the Prudential Lobby.
