Marcus Miller & Friends with special guest David Sanborn
TD James Moody Jazz Festival
GRAMMY-winning multi-instrumentalist Marcus Miller shares the stage with some of his favorite musicians, including longtime collaborator David Sanborn – a sax superstar known for his smooth blend of jazz, pop and R&B – and soul-stirring vocalist Lalah Hathaway.
Marcus Miller, a two-time GRAMMY winner and the composer-producer of 10 critically acclaimed albums, has collaborated with many of the jazz world’s most respected and accomplished players. A true multi-instrumentalist, Miller is highly proficient as a keyboardist, clarinetist-bass clarinetist and, primarily, as a world-renowned electric bassist, at the top of critics' and readers' polls for three decades now.
Since the release of his now classic Taking Off album in 1975, David Sanborn has released 24 albums, won six GRAMMY Awards, and has earned eight gold albums and one platinum. During his career, Sanborn has explored a variety of musical genres, particularly instrumental pop, R&B, and traditional jazz.
A five-time GRAMMY Award winner, Lalah Hathaway, the daughter of legendary soul singer Donny Hathaway, released her self-titled debut album in 1990, which included the hit single “Heaven Knows.” She has earned GRAMMYs for the R&B album Lalah Hathaway Live, Best R&B Performance for “Something” with Snarky Puppy, and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Jesus Children,” “Little Ghetto Boy” and “Angel.”
