The Mariinsky Orchestra, conducted by Valery Gergiev

A volcanic force of sound erupts at NJPAC whenever Valery Gergiev takes the stage with the magnificent Mariinsky Orchestra.

“The orchestra, under musical director Valery Gergiev, moves as if with a single mind and always with purposeful passion,” raves The Times of London.

This appearance, featuring Mahler’s roaring Fifth Symphony, may just be their most dynamic yet! Pianist Denis Matsuev, a longtime artistic collaborator with the Sergei Rachmaninoff Foundation, joins them for the composer’s ravishing Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Debussy’s impressionistic masterpiece, Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune (Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun) begins this concert.

Join us for Bank of America Classical Overtures, held one hour prior to this concert. This interactive presentation is hosted by Maestro George Marriner Maull of New Jersey's Discovery Orchestra and is free to ticket holders.
