Travis Wall’s Shaping Sound: After the Curtain
This electrifying, highly theatrical dance company, led by Emmy-winning choreographer Travis Wall of So You Think You Can Dance fame, returns to NJPAC with an all-new production featuring SYTYCD’s Lex Ishimoto.
After the Curtain is the second show for the eclectic dance company, conceived and choreographed by two-time Emmy Award winner Travis Wall, and tells the story of a man fighting to find his creative voice after the death of his one true love. After the Curtain debuted this year to fantastic reviews. TheaterJones in Dallas said, “It is overwhelmingly beautiful,” and The Los Angeles Times described it as “… a sinuous blend of athleticism, artistry and storytelling: sexy, soapy and spectacular.”
Travis Wall will be joined onstage by Lex Ishimoto, this year’s winner of FOX TV’s So You Think You Can Dance. Gaby Diaz, the Season 12 SYTYCD winner, returns to Shaping Sound. Joining the company is Taylor Sieve, who placed third this year on SYTYCD; Shaping Sound founding partner Nick Lazzarini will also perform.
With his work on So You Think You Can Dance, Wall has reached audiences around the world and established himself as one of America's favorite choreographers. As artistic director of Shaping Sound, he and his troupe of visual magicians have become known for a breathtaking mash-up of dance styles and musical genres.
