After being discovered by Berry Gordy, The Commodores went on to sell more than 60 million records for Motown. An absolute staple of the funk and soul community, the bandmates from Tuskegee are behind such chart-toppers as “Nightshift,” “Sail On” and “Machine Gun.” The Commodores of the present have not only produced six new albums and embarked on a worldwide tour, but have created their own record label and earned a new generation of fans through the combined experience of three decades of writing, producing and performing hit music.
About El Gran Combo
El Gran Combo, is is Puerto Rico's most successful musical group performing for over 5 decades, and is considered "the most popular Salsa group that has ever existed. El Gran Combo received the moniker La Universidad de la Salsa (The University of Salsa) in Colombia, due to the sheer number of famous salsa musicians and singers who developed their careers from being part of the band, they include Andy Montañez, Celia CruzHéctor Lavoe and La India.
When El Gran Combo sold out a concert at Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Puerto Rico, it spawned an album that earned them a Grammy for Best Tropical Album. Among other musicians, they are one of the "enduring superstars of the island."
The orchestra has released over 40 albums and received countless awards, including golden albums, a "Calendario de Plata" in Mexico, a "Golden Combo" in Columbia, a Paoli Award in their native Puerto Rico, an honorable distinction in Spain and countless others.
