Your Place for Jazz

When November swings around, it’s time for the TD James Moody Jazz Festival, always an enticing and eclectic celebration of distinctively American music.

The festival, now in its eighth year, begins with a special evening featuring jazz fusion legends Steps Ahead with vibraphonist Michael Mainieri, along with Michael Franks and Spyro Gyra. They join a roster including the previously announced hip-hop band The Roots with A Christian McBride Situation, plus the "Queen of Funk," Chaka Kahn. Guitarist Lee Ritenour returns to exchange licks with a roster of friends, and there will be starry salutes to the music of Erroll Garner and Nat King Cole. The incomparable Houston Person performs during Dorthaan’s Placejazz brunch at Nico Kitchen + Bar. Closing out this amazing festival is the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Following in February is the world/blues ensemble Bokanté, led by Michael League of Snarky Puppy.
