Overview

Ever hear of Louise Epperson, Ruth McClain or Earlene Jackson Provitt? Join the Newark History Society for a presentation on the unsung women who emerged as community leaders and activists during a time of disruption in the City of Newark. These women gave voice to the citizens of Newark and ignited a new era of political power and triumphs.

The presenter is Dr. Karolina Dos Santos, Assistant Professor at NYU and Newark native whose research interests include social theory, race and ethnicity, urban sociology and comparative historical methods.

This program is co-sponsored by NJPAC and the Newark Public Library. Light refreshments will be served.
