Position Summary: NJPAC Teaching Artists are professional artists and educators who teach a variety of arts disciplines in various environments across the state of New Jersey. Our programs are offered virtually, on-site and to schools, community centers and childcare centers throughout New Jersey. All TAs are paid for ongoing training opportunities as well as all meeting and planning time.
NJPAC Teaching Artists are on-call employees. Work fluctuates based on season, sales and TA availability.
Pay Rates:
Facilitation $50-$80/hr

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

- Create curriculum outlines and lesson plans that embody the goals of NJPAC’s program(s)
- Share curriculum outlines with NJPAC staff, classroom teachers, and school administration
- Communicate with NJPAC and school staff regarding all aspects of programming

Qualifications and Special Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in the arts, education or arts-related field, or equivalent experience

Position Senior Director, Faculty and Creative Practice
Department: Arts Education
Reports To: Vice President
Status: Exempt / Full-Time
Supervises: Associate Director of Professional Learning and Training and Program Directors
Position Summary:
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Arts Education Department is seeking a Senior Director of Faculty and Creative Practice. The position is responsible for the artistic expression across department programs and, through that lens, develop pedagogy, curricula, training and initiatives that align with the department’s vision and guiding principles. The goal is to strengthen the community of artists, teachers, students, families and community members to establish a creative hub that promotes innovation and art making. The position will research the intersection of artistic practice, the classroom, and the community, specifically in jazz, theater, hip hop arts and culture, arts integration, and early childhood for PreK – high school. The Senior Director of Faculty and Creative Practice will possess and cultivate a faculty who develop a deep understanding of community-embedded art initiatives, collaborative cultural approaches, and inclusive arts education practices. In direct support of the Vice President and in collaboration with the other department
Directors and the Faculty Leads, the Senior Director of Faculty and Creative Practice will develop a participatory community for creative artistic and educational practice placing NJPAC and the Arts Education Department at the center of innovation, leadership, and excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Subject to the policies and management directions established by the Vice President for Arts Education, the duties of the Senior Director of Faculty and Creative Practice shall include but are not limited to:
Program Development (40%)
● In collaboration with the Vice President, develop a creative and educational research agenda, including general operating plans and annual goals, objectives, and priorities for faculty leads and the breadth of the department programs.
● Lead the design and development of creative engagement, arts educational, and learning opportunities for programs and training that:
o Align with the Department’s Mission, Strategic Plan, and broader organizational
priorities
o Leverages the assets of the Department
o Create visibility for Arts Education through innovative art-making and educational
approaches
o Incorporate instructional best practices to achieve optimal learning outcomes for
various stakeholders, including children, students, teachers, and community
members.
o Are feasible within organizational constraints and goals
o Reflect and enhance performing arts genres and the diversity and breadth of
contemporary issues
o Educate, inspire, and engage a broad range of students, faculty, and audiences
through a variety of program offerings, formats and platforms
o Drive participation, strengthen faculty and student experience, and deepen
connections to the varied communities of Newark in particular
● Think holistically about department programs and creative initiatives to make
informed choices about program creation and enhancements
● Spearhead creative initiatives to engage diverse communities.
● Establish an arts education faculty community that cultivates creative artistic

Program Management (40%)
● Cultivating a faculty community that sustains high retention and possesses a deep understanding of NJPAC teaching philosophy, excellent teaching practices, creative thinking and artistry, and strong collegiality.
● Responsible for maintaining a full and diverse roster of faculty.
● Work with Human Resources to recruit, hire, and onboard necessary faculty.
● In collaboration with the Senior Manager of Professional Development and Training, design and execute necessary training for the faculty to ensure knowledge of contemporary artistic approaches and sound pedagogical practices, including anti-racist, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches.
● Further develop, build, and manage partnerships with external stakeholders—cultural institutions, educational professionals, community groups & leaders, government agencies
●Monitor and measure the success and impact of programs and faculty teaching and artistic works.
● Develop marketing strategies for programs in collaboration with Marketing and
Communications staff so programs achieve maximum reach and educational impact
●Ensure market material accurately reflects the creative and educational goals of the programs.
Financial Management (20%)
● Create annual program budgets that align with department goals, priorities and strategic plans.
● Responsible for maintaining program expenses, ensuring accuracy and alignment with assigned budgets.
● Approve payroll hours, and track vendor contract invoicing and payments.
● Work with the Development team to apply for funding opportunities from individual, government, foundation, and corporate sources.
● Manage donor visits and provide necessary reports for funders.
Qualifications and Special Requirements:
● A significant artistic record, demonstrated by the creation and production of 15 + original works with youth or original professional works.
● A robust creative research portfolio and a fully developed perspective and practice regarding teaching and creating.
● Possess an active creative practice grounded in innovative performance, deep community engagement or creative placekeeping.
● An exceptional artist-teacher with 10+ year teaching experience and who is able to build upon the department programs and the creative strengths of the faculty.
● Strong understanding of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion implementation including anti-racist practices.
● Demonstrated dedication to the sustainability of art and culture in our society, as well as committed to social justice.
● At least six (6) years experience in a leadership and administrative capacity responsible for producing, presenting, managing staff, and budgeting arts training projects and performing arts events for an arts center or presenting organization.
● A broad and deep understanding of creative and innovative practice in performing arts presentation, production, and/or arts education.
● Demonstrated ability to create educational programs and pedagogy grounded in a creative work and process.
● A background as a teaching artist is preferred, and an interest in and ability to
participate in curriculum development, design, and revision is required.
● A significant interest in transdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge and appreciation of various forms of the performing and experimental arts.
● A track record of performing and/or presenting in conventional and non-traditional forums.
●Extensive experience in supervising staff and faculty including conducting evaluations and annual reviews.
● The capability to attract, mentor, and support exceptional faculty and students is essential.
● Knowledge of the current trends and transformations in the artistic professional landscape and educational industries.

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center, by celebrating diversity, shall be America’s foremost urban presenter of arts and entertainment, a creative and effective leader in arts education for children, a convener of useful and enlightening civic engagement events, and a catalyst for economic development in its home city of Newark.
Position Summary:
As a manager in the production office, the Production Manager works with the AVP, Performance Operations by aiding in the day to day stage and performance related operations, including stage schedules, the maintenance of stage related equipment and facilities, performance expense management and reporting. The Production Manager assists the AVP, Performance Operations to oversee the daily stage labor and other contracted employees in order to successfully fulfill the production requirements of the event. Primary assignments include production management of pop, rock, comedy, community engagement and arts education, internal NJPAC, and Women@NJPAC presentations along with rentals of nonprofit and for-profit live events and broadcasts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Advance and manage presentation of pop, rock comedy, community engagement and arts education presentations including rentals of nonprofit and for profit live events and broadcasts. Must be in regular communication with clients to ensure all technical elements are implemented
● Under the AVP’s guidance, formulate and implement plans to maintain and improve quality of production standards for related operations
● Plan and make recommendations to the AVP for the allotment of resources required to fulfill the production requirements of assigned events using the theaters, including equipment, dressing rooms, wardrobe, catering; communicate directly with artists and/or their representatives, regarding technical riders and any other performance needs
● Communicate directly with artists and/or their representatives, regarding technical riders and any other performance needs. Manage the approved plan.

Qualifications and Special Requirements:
● Experience touring and managing presentation of pop, rock and comedy, along with rentals of nonprofit and for profit live events and broadcasts required
● College degree or equivalent experience suggested
● Seven (7) years experience touring experience managing stagehands in a collective bargaining environment; preferably in a multi-theater environment
● Seven (7) years experience touring interpreting the production needs of artists and other users
● Management of broadcast events in a theatrical environment a plus
● Knowledge of stage related activities such as carpentry, rigging, electrics, sound, props, costumes/wardrobe, stage design, touring, special effects, mechanization, drafting, structural engineering and theater design
● Successful budgeting and control experience
● Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Able to represent NJPAC to artists, clients, renters and vendors
● Ability to work comfortably in a negotiating setting with artists’ managers and production managers in all art forms (concerts, symphonies, dance, etc) and with varying renters (benefits, corporate, school, etc.)
● Ability to specify and secure outside services and materials to support NJPAC productions as needed
● Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, strong emphasis in Google Sheets, Google Docs, Excel, and Word

Title: Operation Support Staff

Position Summary:
The Operations Support and Services Staff is responsible for the hands on preparation of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) for various performances, special events and meetings, including setting up chairs, tables, and staging, applying appropriate skirting/linen as directed, operating audio/visual equipment, loading/unloading supplies, and performing any minor maintenance necessary prior, during and subsequent to events. This position also assists the mailroom and package operation of incoming and outgoing parcels at NJPAC including equipment maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide hands on preparation of set ups of tables, chairs, audio/visual equipment and other portable furnishings/equipment necessary for a performance, banquet, conference, meeting and/or other events.
• Provide hands on setup of office spaces including desk, chairs, cabinets, bookcases, and partitions.
• Execute maintenance and repairs of inventory, including broken tables, chairs, and other portable furnishings/equipment.
• Operate hand and power tools, and other mechanical apparatus.
• Load and unload supplies to assist in the staging of performances and special events, and meetings in FOH spaces.
• Provide coverage of mailroom operations, including pick-up, sorting and distributing of mail and packages as needed.
• Ensure effective operation of the mailroom, including equipment maintenance (mail machine, copiers and select printers), completion of tasks and requests and efficient coverage as needed.
• Manage and perform other related duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma required
• At least one (1) year experience on the Operations Support Staff or equivalent experience.
• Must possess solid administrative and computer skills including Word, Excel & network communications.

Title: Associate Director, Major Gifts
Status: Full time/ Exempt
Reports to: Managing Director, Individual Giving
SUMMARY: Experienced frontline major gifts fundraiser, individual giving strategist, and relationship builder with a track record of success in developing and securing high five, six- and seven-figure gifts. Lead and execute donor and prospecting strategies that compel major donors to invest in NJPAC’s activities and mission. Responsible for growing the major gifts pipeline, a donor group known as the Vanguard at NJPAC, developing and implementing strategies to solicit and/or upgrade major donor prospects and stewarding approximately $2.3 million in annual renewals. Work closely with the Managing Director, Individual Giving and collaborate with senior leaders and partners across the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Exciting opportunity to execute and help grow a robust, multi-channel membership program at New Jersey’s premier cultural institution. The person in this role is an administrator, responsible for the coordination, marketing and execution of annual fundraising campaigns targeted at approx. 1500 members giving between $100.00 and $749.00. This role will work closely and collaborate with multiple departments including CRM, Development, Marketing, Ticketing, Design and Digital.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Manage and implement annual membership campaign timelines, including fall and spring acquisitions, monthly renewals and special calendar and fiscal year end appeals
● Serve as lead contact with vendors that execute direct mail, list purchasing, premiums and more
● Analyze data and identify trends that can be leveraged to improve existing campaigns and develop new revenue opportunities
● Maintain up to date print, on site and web copy and collateral promoting membership and its benefits

● Assist in the maintenance of member biographical data in Salesforce, including accurate member recognition

The Manager of Special Events will work with the Director of Events to plan, coordinate, and execute events for NJPAC’s Development Department and Women@NJPAC. The manager will lead the development and production of fulfillment and member events that advance donor involvement, cultivation, and stewardship. Additional responsibilities throughout the year include supporting two large–scale Fundraisers and providing administrative support for the Women@NJPAC Board of Trustees. This position is an essential aspect of the fundraising effort and supports the overall donor experience through fulfillment and member events and multi- faceted fundraisers grossing upwards of $2.8 million annually for the Arts Center. This candidate must bring to the position maturity and professionalism and the ability to manage several projects at one time. In order to be successful, the candidate must be highly organized, manage logistics and details with ease, and bring exceptional interpersonal skills. She/He/They must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work events during occasional evenings and weekends. The event manager will provide outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic team player, pay attention to detail, and be able to manage relationships with internal staff, vendors, volunteers, trustees, and donors.
Event Planning and Production
- Support strategic development and coordinate calendar of events in collaboration with Director of Events
- Develop and execute high quality events that integrate fundraising goals and advance donor involvement
- Manage event production including timelines, budgets, invitation lists, managing RSVPs and guest lists, and post-event follow-ups.
- Manage event logistics including communication with volunteer leaders, consultants, caterer, internal staff, and other management or vendors depending on type of event.
- Assist with booking spaces, arrange catering, ordering supplies, and help ensure appropriate décor (linens, florals, etc.) to meet quality expectations
- Manage event needs for on-site production, including room layouts and manage clean- up for events
- Prepare event materials (name tags, materials, menus, packages, gift bags, registration lists, seating cards, etc.)
- Propose new ideas and best practices for event-related matters and brainstorm and research new programs and initiatives
Marketing and Communications
- Work with NJPAC staff to oversee creation of all event materials including save the dates, invitations, eblasts, and other event collateral
- Add new projects into Marketing workflow using Wrike Project Management software
- Provide design concepts and copy
- Act as liaison with internal staff for review and approvals
- Help manage and maintain the Women@NJPAC website and social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
- Support event journal production
Database Management
- Update and maintain donor records, ensuring that contact details and biographical information for donors and prospects is accurate
- Ensure that event sponsor solicitation ask and gift updates are entered into the
- Salesforce CRM system promptly and accurately
- Provide support for online event portal (Classy): upload event details and design elements, draft and schedule notifications, manage ticketing and registration, create auction items, etc.
- Manage event details in Salesforce CRM system, such as creating and maintaining marketing lists, helping develop reports and metrics, creating registration pages, uploading final attendance information, etc.
Administration
- Provide general administrative support to the Managing Director of Women@NJPAC, which may include Trustee stewardship efforts such as Birthday shoutouts and Board communications.
- Coordinate and administer logistical aspects of Women@NJPAC’s Board of Trustees board and committee meetings, and special events, including reserving meeting rooms, arranging catering, materials and equipment
- Take minutes at Women@NJPAC meetings and prepare for review
- Provide administration duties for Women@NJPAC, including photocopying, stuffing mailings, ordering supplies and gathering resources to assist with event-related projects
- Manage solicitation mailings for all events, gift acknowledgment and stewardship correspondence ensuring timely distribution
- Handle payment of invoices and assist with developing and managing budgets
- Establish and maintain event files and records
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree; with two – three years event or related work experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and ability to mail merge; experience in Salesforce preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, being able to represent NJPAC with high professionalism and grace under pressure
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong writing and proofreading skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments, and accomplish tasks with little supervision
- Marketing/Social Media skills preferred

The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) seeks a dynamic and results-driven
Manager, Corporate Partnerships to join our team. This role is responsible for developing,
managing, and growing corporate partnerships that generate an annual revenue goal of
$1.6 million. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in
corporate fundraising, possessing excellent business development and relationship-building
skills and a passion for the performing arts. As an active front-line fundraiser, this role is
responsible for the cultivation, stewardship and acquisition of new corporate donors and
renewal of current ones in the $5,000 – $25,000 range, including ownership of a portfolio of
approximately 60 corporate donors.
As the largest performing arts center in the state and the most diverse in the country, NJPAC
is continually innovating and is in the midst of several exciting projects. These include:
creating an arts and culture district in downtown Newark, the expansion of programs and
partnerships in Arts Education, Community Engagement and Arts & Well-Being, and
creating world-class programming for its 27th season. The Business Partners program at
NJPAC is the leading corporate philanthropy program in the region. The program consists
of over 100 companies across a variety of industries whose support enables all of our
mission-driven work and who benefit from networking with like-minded business leaders at
events like the Business Partners Roundtable, client entertainment, and employee benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
● Revenue Generation: Achieve an annual corporate revenue goal of $1.6M –
including renewals and new business – through strategic relationship management,
stewardship and solicitation of small to mid-level Business Partners (approximately
60 accounts) at the $5,000-$25,000 level. Monitor progress against revenue goals
and adjust strategies as necessary to ensure targets are met.
● Prospecting and Partnership Development: Identify, cultivate, and secure new
corporate partnerships while maintaining and enhancing existing relationships.
Actively maintain a pipeline of new qualified corporate prospects, in partnership with
the Director, Research and Prospect Management. Write customized proposals and
grant applications that align with NJPAC’s mission and corporate partners’ goals.
● Donor Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for Business Partners,
ensuring exceptional service and stewardship. Oversee the communication,
implementation and fulfillment of partnership benefits and agreements. Engage with
Business Partners with the focus of increasing gifts, building value and strengthening
the relationship. Manage the Business Partners Committee by scheduling meetings,
creating agendas, communicating with members and identifying new members
● Strategic Planning: Collaborate with Director, Corporate Partnerships and
department leadership to develop and implement strategic plans for corporate
engagement and revenue growth.
● Reporting and Analysis: Track and report on partnership performance, including
revenue metrics, engagement levels, and ROI using Salesforce and other tools.
Prepare and present regular reports to Department VP and NJPAC leadership.
● Event Production: Coordinate and produce events and experiences for Business
Partners, including VIP receptions, behind-the-scenes tours, and special events,
ensuring all events align with NJPAC’s brand and deliver a high-quality experience
for partners. This includes the production of Business Partner Roundtables (BPRTs)
approx. 4 per year – panel and topic curation, event marketing and promotion,
strategies for growing attendance of and value for prospects and current Business
Partners, and working closely with the Coordinator, Corporate Partnerships on
execution of event logistics and marketing.
● Collaboration: Work closely with Women@NJPAC and the internal Development
teams to engage Business Partners with opportunities for special fundraising events
(i.e. Spotlight Gala and Spring Luncheon), as well as NJPAC’s marketing, social
impact, finance, production, and programming teams, the Office of the President, to
integrate corporate partnerships into broader organizational initiatives. Foster a
collaborative environment to maximize partnership opportunities and impact.
● Community Engagement: Represent NJPAC at industry events, conferences, and
networking opportunities to enhance the center’s profile and build potential
partnership connections.

Position Summary:
The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) Ticket Services department is responsible for all subscription and single ticket, parking, and gift certificate sales for the majority of performances presented annually at NJPAC. This includes providing sales and customer service internally through box office, fax, mail and priority customer phone number and externally through a supplier based call center, web site and ticket fulfillment center. Ticket Services is also responsible for supporting NJPAC Membership development programs including member enrollment and inquiry resolution. Box Office Representatives perform all required Box Office activities that are inclusive of the Ticket Services organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle face-to-face ticket sales and customer inquires during weekday hours consistent with mission of providing outstanding customer service
- Process all subscription ticket and single ticket, parking gift certificate, and membership enrollments and renewal orders in ticketing system.
- When needed, provide backup support to answer phone calls on the priority customer phone line.
- When needed, assist with outbound customer support calls for event changes and cancellations.
- Efficiently and accurately manage a cash drawer.
- Assist patrons at the box office during pre-performance and intermission
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of all events and performances presented at NJPAC utilizing prepared and accessible print and digital media and verbal communications.
- Balance at the end of the shift to computer generated operator report.
- Light office duties including faxing, photocopying, filing and so forth.
- Prepare mailings (stuffing, labeling, sorting and sealing).
- Saturday & Sunday availability is required.
Qualifications and Special Requirements:
- High School diploma required.
- Two (2) years work experience, customer service or sales experience a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Familiarity with the keyboard
- PC literate
- Good verbal communication skills.
