Overview
For 150 years, The Bethany Baptist Church of Newark has been one of the leading African American houses of worship. The Church features monthly jazz in its Saturday evening Vesper services.
In June, Bethany Baptist welcomes the Jazz House All-Stars. This ensemble features talented alumni from New Jersey’s acclaimed JAZZ HOUSE KiDS, with Alex Laurenzi (alto saxophone/music director), Jalin Shiver (tenor saxophone), Andrew Wagner (trumpet), Galo Inga (piano), Laura-Simone Martin (bass) and Matthew Lee (drums). They’ll be joined by special guest vocalist and JAZZ HOUSE KiDS president, Melissa Walker.
