Overview

an evening of early childhoos explorations

Find community, and creative inspiration, with pre-K and elementary school educators. Two interactive workshops will offer ready-to-use ideas for integrating the arts into your classroom. Learn how to add creative movement to literacy and uncover the benefits of rhythm development using rain sticks, shakers and gestures.

Workshops

Integrating Creative Movement with Literacy: Bring read-aloud to life by integrating creative movement into literacy experiences for preschool learners. Teachers will explore age-appropriate, kinesthetic strategies that support engagement, comprehension, and participation while creating more inclusive learning opportunities for multilingual learners and neurodivergent students.

Rain Rhythms: A Body Percussion and Sound Exploration: Led by Yael Shacham, explore the sounds, rhythms, and movement of rain through storytelling, body percussion, music, and hands-on exploration of rain sticks. Using Tap Tap Boom Boom and “Rain on the Green Grass,” participants will experiment with steady beat, tempo, dynamics, sequencing, and patterns while creating their own rainstorm through sound and movement. The workshop concludes with a musical exploration incorporating rain sticks, shakers, and gestures.

The fun also includes NJPAC ticket and merch giveaways, plus light refreshments.

Parking will be available in Military Parking Garage for a reduced fee of $3.00.
