Welcome to ArtsRx — your ticket to better health!

As an ArtsRx participant, you receive free access to arts and cultural activities throughout Essex County. And you never have to go alone, you can bring up to two friends, family members or caregivers.

ArtsRx Participant FAQ

Who can join ArtsRx?
You’re eligible if you: 

  • Are 18+
  • Can access activities in Essex County 
  • Received a direct referral from one of our partners: Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Rutgers University–Newark, RWJBarnabas Health, City of Newark Department of Health or Returning Citizens Support Group. Full-time NJPAC employees also qualify.   

This one’s just for you — while ArtsRx isn’t open to the public, you are invited to bring a friend or family member. They can join as your guest or receive a referral from one of our partners.

  • A personal ArtsRx Connector who finds and books your activities — for free! We cover the costs for you and your guests (up to $100/person).
  • Six art activities to enjoy over a period of six months.

  • Start activity number one within your first month of registration, then aim for at least one art activity per month.
  • Save our contact information in your email and phone (so we don’t end up in your junk folders): ArtsRx@njpac.org |  973.297.5825. 
  • Fill out a short survey after each activity, plus a final program completion survey at the conclusion of your six months in ArtsRx.

Yes! Just make sure you do the following:

  1. Attend more than four of your six activities.
  2. Complete all follow-up surveys (plus the program completion survey).
  3. Respond to our phone and email check-ins.
  4. Remain in good standing — show up for your activities on time, let us know in advance if you’re unable to attend and treat everyone with kindness and respect.

Yes! Your ArtsRx Connector will review your available art activity options and will register you for free! You never have to pay; NJPAC Arts & Well-Being covers the costs for you and your guests.
