Overview
The Dodge Poetry Festival, usually held over four days at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and other venues in downtown Newark, will be held virtually this year, with readings and conversations online over 11 days, October 22-November 1.
Noted for being the largest poetry event in North America, this 18th biennial Festival will have a virtual world-wide reach and feature more than 100 poets including the current U.S. Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo, and former Poets Laureate, Charles Simi and Natasha Trethewey as well as Pulitzer Prize winners and MacArthur Fellowship recipients. Once again, the Academy of American Poets will integrate its annual Poets Forum into the Festival.
In the name of access and equity, live streaming of the 2020 Geraldine R. Dodge Poetry Festival will be offered online at no charge. Performances on-demand during and after the Festival will be available on a Pay What You Can basis. Schools and teachers that register in advance will have free full access.
