Overview

Alvin Ailey was a visionary choreographer who centered the Black American experience and put social justice in the spotlight. The new film AILEY explores the man, his work, and its powerful legacy that impacted American dance and culture. NJPAC invites you to watch the documentary and join us for a panel discussion with the filmmaker of AILEY and the current and former Artistic Directors from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

NJPAC’s PSEG True Diversity Film Series focuses on films that examine different aspects of the ongoing social justice movement. Our series follows a book club model: We’ll watch the selected films in our homes, then come together online to discuss them with panelists who can offer context.

How to participate:

  1. Watch AILEY. Tune in for the nationwide premiere on PBS on January 11 at 9PM ET (check your local listings). Or, watch online for free between January 11–February 11. Or, stream it on Hulu with your subscription.
  2. Tune in at facebook.com/njpac for a virtual panel discussion at 7PM on January 19, 2022.
