Overview

The iconic Boston Pops, under the masterful direction of Keith Lockhart, return to NJPAC with a sparkling holiday celebration, complete with stories, songs and carols.

Parking their reindeer on the roof of Prudential Hall, Lockhart and company will unpack a sleigh full of seasonal tunes, including “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” “Jingle Bells,” and “Sleigh Ride.” And a very special guest, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, will be on hand to read “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” the classic poem by Clement Clarke Moore that begins: “Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house…”

Another beloved holiday story, The Polar Express will be told through projections of Chris Van Allsburg’s original illustrations from the picture book and performance of the score of the 2004 film.

Since its founding in 1885, the Boston Pops has become one of America’s most beloved musical institutions, known for a rousing repertoire of light classical, Broadway show tunes, film score classics, American standards and patriotic songs.

Currently in his 24th season with the Boston Pops, Lockhart has led over 1,900 Boston Pops concerts (including performances at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall) as well as 79 television performances, including dozens of new programs for Evening at Pops, and the annual July Fourth spectacular, broadcast nationally for many years.
