Overview
Honor Juneteenth with a PSEG True Diversity Film screening and Standing in Solidarity conversation on the history and impact of historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
These schools, some predating the Civil War, are credited with building the African-American middle class and creating pathways for economic and social mobility. The program includes a PSEG True Diversity Film screening of Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black College and Universities (Firelight Films, 2018). The documentary examines the impact of HBCUs on American history, culture and national identity.
A conversation with Black leaders, who are also HBCU graduates, will take place following the film screening.

The Juneteenth celebration continues with an afterparty hosted by Heritage Hall located in the Hahne’s building at 54 Halsey Street. Tour the “HBCU Experience” exhibit, witness the unveiling of our panelists’ portraits, enjoy sounds by Justis Pitt-Goodson of BrownMill Company and more! Plus: Sport your HBCU attire for a chance to get photographed and become a part of the Heritage Hall legacy.
