Overview
For 150 years, The Bethany Baptist Church of Newark has been one of the leading African American houses of worship. The Church features monthly jazz in its Saturday evening Vesper services.
In January, Bethany Baptist welcomes Leonieke Scheuble. At a young age, this phenomenal pianist and organist has already made a name for herself in the New Jersey music scene. She’ll be joined by her 3 Generations of Jazz Quintet: Jerry Weldon, Duane Eubanks, Bill Crow and Nick Scheuble. Alongside Leonieke’s original compositions, they’ll pay tribute to hard bop artists including Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Clifford Brown and Max Roach.
