Overview

The recent Hurricane Fiona disaster reminds us once again of the ongoing challenges facing Puerto Rico. Beyond questions of statehood vs. independence, what can we do right now to help our friends, family and neighbors in PR?

NJPAC invites you to our next PSEG True Diversity Film Series panel, where we will discuss how to be an ally and advocate. From ensuring voter registration to demanding basic rights from elected officials, our panelists will share powerful ways to give PR the support it deserves.

How to participate:

  1.   Register here.
  2.   Watch the film Blackout in Puerto Rico at home on your own schedule.
  3.   Join us for a virtual panel discussion at 7PM on Monday, October 10.

Our panel will be moderated by Dr. Arturo Osorio, Associate Professor of Professional Practice at Rutgers Business School.

Our panelists include:

Peggy Anastos, Co-Chair of NJ Commission on Puerto Rico

Joe Hernandez, Vice President of The Essex County Latino-American Chamber of Commerce

Christina D. Ponsa-Kraus, Professor of Legal History at Columbia Law School

José E. Velázquez Luyanda, Founder of the Thurgood Marshall Law Academy
