Overview

Cori Barnes, a member of the M.A. Taylor dance company, will lead a live Afro Beat dance workshop at this Wellness Wednesday live online gathering!

Cori started her career as an actress and model — she was the first African American to appear in a Bounty paper towel commercial! — but has also been dancing since she was just two years old. She’s danced with the likes of Debbie Mitchell, Lisa Attles, Adrienne Armstrong, Karen Love and Christopher Livsey, and studied at both Sharon Miller’s Academy for the Performing Arts and the Dance Theater of Harlem.

She joined the M.A. Taylor dance company at the age of 13, and she’s still a member of the company today. She’s now a ballet instructor and choreographer and runs IROCFIT Services, her own dance school. For this Wellness Wednesday session, she’ll be offering a lesson in Afro Beat dance, which combines West African musical styles with American funk and jazz influences.

Join us for this special Afro Beats Wellness Wednesday dance class at 7:30 PM on September 16.
