Share your teaching talents with our community of students! NJPAC Arts Education will be hosting an open call for teaching artists on Wednesday, Nov 30 from 4-7pm at 24 Rector Street, the Arts Education Building. Interested parties must sign in no later than 6pm on November 30th in order to be seen.
Can’t make the open call? Priority slots will be offered to those who complete their application by Nov 20. Applications will be reviewed and invitations will be sent for either Nov 28 or Nov 29 audition dates. Use the RSVP button if you’re interested in a priority slot.
Take a glance at the following areas we’re seeking on-call Teaching Artists:
Hip Hop: Music Production, Djing, Emeecing/Rap, Graffiti, and/or Dance
Theater: Musical Theater, Acting and/or Drama
Arts Integration: Storytelling, Dance & Drama
Work Days: Monday – Friday
Work Hours: *Flexible, Mornings, Afternoons, and/or Evenings Between 8 am and 6 pm
Location: On and Offsite
Travel: Required
Grade Levels: Pre-K – 12th

Please Note: Teaching artists are on-call employees. We are primarily focusing on building our in-school residency faculty roster, although other opportunities may arise throughout the year.
How to prepare
- Bring resume
- Prepare a 10-minute facilitation/teaching demo with accompanying written lesson plan. Include the grade level in the lesson plan.
**All Walk-ins must sign-in onsite by 6:00 pm sharp. We have a limited amount of audition spaces. Please arrive early.**

- What happens after I complete the application? You will receive an email from us to schedule your audition time.
- When will I start? Mandatory Training will begin in January 2023.
- Where will I be located? We provide residencies to Newark and the surrounding areas. Your home base will be assigned to you. Please beware that some residencies require up to 1 hour of travel time from NJPAC.
- Do I have to attend training? Yes, NJPAC hosts training over the course of a year. A calendar will be provided to you.
- Do I get paid for training? Yes, you will receive compensation for completed training.
- What if I can not make the date above? Please fill out the application and note any adjustments needed.
